Who Is NVSO?


The mission of NVSO is to provide skilled and aspiring musicians of all ages the opportunity to learn, rehearse, and perform exceptional orchestral music, fostering music appreciation and engagement among members of the North Valley community. 

Our vision is to be a vibrant and diverse community that deeply cares for the artistry, learning and performance of exceptional orchestral music. 


Our 501(c)(3) non-profit organization includes four orchestras, serving all ages and skill levels:   

  • North Valley Symphony Orchestra (NVSO) – adults and youth orchestra members who have auditioned and been accepted.    
     
  • North Valley Youth Orchestra (NVYO) – Advanced ensemble- youth, typically high school, but also post-high school graduates (19 or younger), or students younger than high school age who have auditioned and been accepted.
     
  • North Valley Youth Strings (NVYS) - Intermediate ensemble - youth, typically middle school or early high school students, that have auditioned and been accepted.
     
  • North Valley Symphonettes (NVS) – Beginning ensemble -  youth, typically elementary or middle-school students who have at least one year of experience on their instrument. 

Our foundational values are that we, the NVSO community:

  • Provide exceptional value to it's members, audience, and the North Valley community.
